• Can foreigners own a property in Rwanda? Yes, Rwanda allows foreigners to own one property with a transparent process. • Is it easy to get ownership title in Rwanda? Owning property in Rwanda is a straightforward process designed to ensure security and transparency. Each property has a Unique Property Identifier (UPI) ensuring secured land tenure. Ownership property titles are digital and can be checked online. • What payment methods are accepted? Imara Properties offers several types of payment schedules including flexible payment plans with instalments, and discounts for upfront payments. We can also connect buyers with relevant banks and financial institutions for mortgages. We operate in Rwanda and payments are made by bank transfers to our bank in Kigali.
• What are the steps for purchasing a property? Purchasing with Imara Properties involves three steps: 1/ Sign the booking contract with a 10% deposit and finalize at the notary. 2/ During construction, receive progress updates, schedule visits, and make instalment payments. 3/ Upon timely completion, schedule a final inspection, make the last payment, get your keys, and enjoy a guarantee along with fully-serviced property and rental services.
• What additional fees should buyers consider? Buyers should consider a few limited additional fees when purchasing their property. These include: 1/ notary fees (less than 100 USD, one-time payment), 2/ an annual property tax of maximum 1% of the property value, 3/ property management fees ranging from 50 to 100 USD per month.
• Is there an option for construction customization? Customization is possible but to a certain extent. Buyers can customize certain interior features, such as tiles and finishes, at an additional cost. This option allows you to personalize your home or apartment.
